Little Black Sands Beach

Little Black Sands Beach is one of the most scenic and relatively secluded beach known for its unique black sands, which is a result of the ancient volcanic activity in the region. The beach is characterized by black -colored pebbles and sands. It is known for its unique features, including a double crescent beach shape. One notable attraction is the middle rock formation where waves crash, creating tall sprays.Interestingly, during low tides, people occasionally choose this location to get married near the middle rock, making it a special spot for wedding pictures.

Blow Hole

The blowhole  refers to a geological feature where seawater is forced through a hole or opening in the rocky coastline, creating a spout or spray. Blowholes are often formed by erosion and wave action over time. 

There are other blowholes that become more prominent during the winter, particularly along the "Whales Tail" and rocky coast near the north end of the Airstrip.


A walk through the Eucalyptus grow

Drive on Cove Beach

Cove Beach in Shelter Cove, CA, stands out as a unique coastal destination with its distinct features. Unlike many other beaches, Cove Beach offers a safe environment for visitors to enter the water, making it a rare gem for those seeking a refreshing swim or water activities.This is the only beach you can swim safely.

Cove Beach provides the opportunity to drive on the beach during low tide. It's a great beach to hang out in the Summer. July 4th fireworks happens here. Favorite spot to hang out for the locals. You can see surfers catching the waves here. 

Wedding Point

Couples can exchange their vows against the backdrop of crashing waves, dramatic cliffs, and the soothing sound of the ocean. The Wedding Point provides an intimate and serene setting, perfect for those looking to celebrate their love in a tranquil and idyllic environment.Wedding Point. Best spot to look at the coastline that reaches Mendocino. Also great spot to get a Birds Eye of the South end of Shelter Cove including the Light House.

Lost Coast Labyrinth in Shelter Cove

The Lost Coast Labyrinth serves as a sacred sanctuary, inviting travelers to pause, breathe, and reconnect with the rhythm of the natural world. Whether seeking solace, clarity, or simply a moment of serenity, this coastal gem provides a transformative experience that resonates long after the journey's end.

Who Made the Labyrinth Possible?

The land the labyrinth is located on is the property of the Resort Improvement District #1, a government agency. The use of the land was granted to SCARF (Shelter Cove Arts and RecreationsFoundation) for the construction of the labyrinth without cost to taxpayers.
In addition, the Friends of the Lost Coast were also helpful in designing the berms and landscaping surrounding the labyrinth.
